I really enjoyed this. I especially liked the idea that we don’t romanticise death because we understand it, but because we need a framework to hold something otherwise incomprehensible. The line about using the poetic and dramatic form to “hold it by the blade” was particularly striking. It also made me think that perhaps what we romanticise isn’t death itself, but meaning in the face of it. Thanks for such an engaging read.
